I am 35,000 feet above the Arctic enroute to London, England, and the gentleman sitting next to me is watching the latest episode of Suits, a relatively new television show about the Legal profession. This reminds me of a recent discussion I had with the Corporate Security stakeholders at one of our larger enterprise customers and how their Legal Department wants to start using their Perspective system. Corporate Security championed our application and brought it into their organization, but now their Legal team is also interested in having access to consolidated incident reports and the ability to add specific information to an incident or case.
This is not typical but, for many companies, Legal (amongst other departments) is becoming more and more involved in the Incident Management process and has even started to own the budget for many Corporate Security teams. It is not hard to understand why this shift has happened, as the end result of many incidents can become huge litigation issues for an organization.

Introducing our latest case study…
Optimizing Resources, Shrinking Losses—
Perspective at Microsoft Global Security
“Perspective makes it easy to collect, access and track data. When an incident occurs, the data goes in, and we immediately have access to the information we need to make mission critical decisions.”
—Brian Tuskan, Senior Director of Global Security Technology & Investigations, Microsoft Corporation
The fact that Microsoft Global Security uses Perspective gives everyone at PPM an incredible sense of pride and accomplishment. We recognize that they are diligent in their review of software vendors and have high expectations for the latest technology and ongoing enhancements. We are also proud of what they’ve been able to do with Perspective and, ultimately, the incidents it has helped them prevent—“By trending with Perspective, we changed our security approach and cut laptop thefts in half.”

Just over a month ago, on June 15-16th, PPM held a Perspective Hands-On Regional Training Session (RTS) in Toronto, Ontario. At the end of the two-day session, attendees were asked to complete an online evaluation form, providing feedback on both the session and the instructor.
Looking at our evaluation forms in general, I regularly get asked:
“Does anyone ever read these?”
“Does it really matter what we say here?”
“Why does my opinion count?”
I can enthusiastically state that we care about your opinion and that, yes, each and every evaluation gets read by a minimum of three individuals at PPM, including one of our Co-CEOs.

I recently had the privilege of attending IAHSS’s 43rd Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Ontario on May 22-25, 2011. As PPM’s Director of Implementation Services, I attend many security industry trade shows, and I am always excited to interact with current and prospective clients. I see people that I’ve worked with in previous Perspective deployments together with people that I’m actively working with on current projects. It’s always nice to hear how their implementation and use of Perspective is going, especially if I’m not their active project manager.
But, with this show in particular, I was pleased to have the opportunity, not only to connect with PPM clients, but also to reminisce with colleagues that I used to work with in my previous career.
Prior to PPM, I worked in healthcare security in Edmonton, Alberta for 15 years. During that time, I was the administrator for the IRIMS program (PPM 2000’s legacy product). Having had this role in healthcare security has definitely been beneficial to me and one of my team’s other consultants, Clint St. Jean. Together, Clint and I have a combined 32 years of healthcare security experience. What this has meant to our numerous healthcare clients that have purchased Perspective is that we’re able to understand how maintaining data in the healthcare environment can be challenging to say the least.

Nothing means more to us than positive feedback from one of our clients! It’s validation that we’re on the right track… meeting (maybe even exceeding!) expectations.
On Friday, I received an email that exemplified the experience we strive for with every individual and company who interacts with PPM. I immediately shared it internally and quickly realized that I wanted to post it on our blog as an example of how important the end-to-end experience is… from someone’s initial request for information, to their decision to go with Perspective, to the consulting and training services that follow.
Dear Elaine:
Thank you for your welcome letter. While we are in the final phase of going live with our Perspective software, I wanted to share my observations on PPM 2000 as a company.
